* Tested Homozygous for Black - Results from the University of California, Davis indicate that Hi Tech Cowboy is homozygous for black pigment (EE). He cannot have red foals regardless of color of the mare. The basic color of the horse will be black, bay, or brown but depending on other genes may be buckskin, zebra dun, grulla,  perlino, gray, white or any of these colors with white hair patterns.

We would like to thank

Rarely in life is one afforded the opportunity to live their dreams.  Amy and I felt like we were granted just such a wish, when we were officially declared the high bidders for the vivid black and white leopard stallion Hi Tech Cowboy at the 2005 Worlds Sale.

Little did we know just how much of an impact that this amazing young horse would have on us, our lives, and how he would expand our circle of friends.  At shows and expos, Hi Tech was a real showstopper and attention grabber. Folks would flock to his stall, or stop what they were doing, to stare and offer us acknowledgement and encouragement as we walked by.

We quickly knew we were truly blessed and honored to process this gentle and prolific ambassador of “The Breed of Choice”.

Unfortunately, this wonderful fantasy-like scenario ended as quickly as it started. Within a few short hours of displaying distress, the very accomplished doctors at The Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital had no option but to euthanize our beloved boy, due to complications from an enterolith and the resulting rupture.

It is so understated to call it one of the worst days of Amy’s and my life. Not a day has gone by that we haven’t missed the “Big Boy”.  His special antics, his knickers and his constant yelling at the girls are so noticeably absent.

Our dream lives on, and so will Hi Tech Cowboy’s legacy, making next year’s foal crop all that more special.

We wish to thank each and everyone who took the time to speak well of this amazing stallion, as well as those of you who entrusted your faith in his abilities by breeding to him through the short number of years we were all graced with his presence.

Our Journey with Hi Tech:

When Sycamore Run started the hunt for our first stallion, we researched bloodlines and searched through stacks of stallions, but none seemed to fit exactly what we were looking for. In 2005, when the World Show Sale catalog posted to the ApHC website....Amy fell in LOVE, and I have to admit.... I was smitten as well. We have never dreamed that John and Julie Kreider of Sawyer Creek Appaloosas would put Hi Tech on the market, but now that he was, we started an in depth look at him, his bloodlines, and his offspring and then the only thing left, was to meet him in person. Amazingly, he was everything that we were looking for and more! The complete package - great confirmation, proven show record, and a wonderful start at producing exceptional foals but most importantly, the GREATEST disposition.

As the sale started, we sat while holding our breath until he came up for the bidding. Then it was just a matter of time, and getting past some other very determined bidders from the Crazy Lady Ranch in Texas as well a group of buyers from Mexico, but FINALLY he was ours and headed to Sycamore Run. He also gets to boost that he was the highest selling horse in the 2005 Appaloosa World Show Select Sale!

Hi Tech show record holds two ROM’s with 32 halter points and 53 Most Colorful at Halter points. At 2001 World Show he earned a 3rd in Open Weanling Stallions out of 36 entries, 5th in Non-Pro Weanling Stallions out of 32 entries and 4th Most Colorful at Halter out of 36 entries. 2002 National and World Show Top Ten Winner in Halter and Most Colorful. In addition, he has two Canadian National wins– Yearling Open Halter and Most Colorful. Finished in the top ten at the 2006 Nationals and the top five at the 2006 Worlds.

He was an excellent and consistent breeder. Hi Tech had a natural head carriage, flat knees and sweeping movement make him destined to sire performance and halter prospects, proving he was as versatile as he was beautiful. On top of that, he put a lot of color on his babies, including many Few-Spot leopards.

Reserve National & World Champion Halter Stallion
ApHC Hall of Fame Stallion

Sired by Alias King and out of Aztecs Fanci Frani (AQHA), the 1984 stallion DREAMFINDER has had a tremendous impact on the Appaloosa show horse's conformation, raising the degree of quality required for a horse to be a contender in the arena.

The stallion was a National and World Champion Stallion as a yearling, earning the grand championship at the 1985 National Show, the first time such a young horse won the stallion grand championship. DREAMFINDER was undefeated in halter competition as a yearling, his only year in the arena, and quickly established himself as a leading sire.

Bred by Rex Kennard, the horse stood first in Oklahoma before continuing his stallion career at Crown Center Farms, Redstone Farms, and finally Classic Acres.

Dreamfinder has sired multiple World and National Champions and foals earning over nearly 13,500 halter points, over 3500 performance points, over 4000 non-pro points, over 2500 youth points, 285 ROMs, 124 Bronze Medallions and 10 Silver Medallions and they are still out there gathering points and awards today!
